Color and Appearance
Coastal Blend brings together cool gray and green tones with warmer rose, reddish-brown, and sandy accents. Individual stones may feature pale markings, subtle veining, or varied surface textures.
The blend pairs well with gray concrete, natural stone paving, wood accents, ornamental grasses, and green foliage. Its multicolor palette suits coastal gardens, informal planting beds, and contemporary landscapes.
Stones range from rounded and oval to irregular shapes. Smaller sizes have a finer, more varied texture, while larger sizes make individual colors and shapes more noticeable.
Choose Your River Rock Size
Nominal size | Appearance | Decorative applications |
1/4″ | Fine pebble texture with small individual pieces | Planter top dressing, small accent areas, and infill around stepping stones |
3/8″ | Small pebbles with more visible shape and color | Garden borders, decorative ground cover, and stepping-stone surrounds |
1/2″ | Medium pebble texture with distinct individual stones | Planting beds, courtyard accents, and landscape borders |
3/4″ | Larger pebbles with a more pronounced rounded appearance | Broad decorative beds, patio borders, and dry creek accents |
1½″ | Bold texture with larger individual stones | Decorative dry creek beds, larger planting areas, and accents around boulders |
Sizes are approximate and nominal. Each selection includes natural variation in stone length, width, and thickness. Some pieces may be larger or smaller than the listed size.
Popular Landscape Uses
Decorative ground cover: Create a finished stone surface around established shrubs and ornamental plants.
Garden borders: Define the edges of planting beds, patios, and walkways.
Stepping-stone surrounds: Add contrasting texture around larger paving stones.
Dry creek designs: Combine different stone sizes for a layered, natural appearance.
Planter top dressing: Use smaller pebbles to cover exposed soil in suitable outdoor containers.
Boulder accents: Carry complementary colors around larger landscape stones.
Planning Your Project
Measure your project area and decide on the intended installation depth before ordering. Coverage depends on the selected size, depth, surface conditions, and how the stones settle.
Prepare the area by removing unwanted vegetation and debris, establishing the desired grade, and adding edging where needed to contain the material. Keep stone clear of tree trunks and plant crowns.
For dry creek beds designed to carry runoff, choose stone sizes and an underlying drainage design suited to the expected flow.
