Bulk Sand for Sandboxes and Sand Play Areas
Play Sand is a practical option for dedicated sandboxes and outdoor sand play spaces. Its small grains provide loose material for scooping, digging, filling buckets, and shaping sand creations.
Common projects include:
Filling a new backyard sandbox.
Replenishing sand in an existing sandbox.
Creating a designated outdoor sand play area.
Supplying sand for projects that specifically call for play sand.
For schools, childcare facilities, or public recreation projects, confirm the required material specifications before ordering.
Natural Color and Texture
Our Play Sand features a blend of light beige, tan, and white grains. The close-up product photos show the material’s granular texture, while the delivery photo shows a five-cubic-yard load delivered in Tiburon, Marin County.
As a natural material, sand can vary slightly in color, texture, and moisture between loads. Damp sand may appear darker and form clumps, while drier sand can look lighter and looser. Review the product photos or request a sample before ordering if appearance is important to your project.
How Much Play Sand Do You Need?
Measure the area you want to fill and choose your intended sand depth before placing an order. The amount needed depends on both the size of the sandbox and how deep you want the sand.
For reference, one cubic yard covers approximately:
100 square feet at 3 inches deep.
75 square feet at 4 inches deep.
50 square feet at 6 inches deep.
These estimates describe the volume placed at an even depth. Allow for an uneven base or other project conditions when planning your order.
